I recently decided to get serious about my writing, and I have since been working hard on a handful of essays that I’m going to post shortly. So receiving my notice letter from Medium came at a sucky time. Which is why, after some thinking, I decided to meet their requirement (I had 65 organic followers at the time I received it).
I’m not a fan of having to “play the game”, but I think it’s a small price to pay for keeping the opportunity to earn a few quid for all the mornings I’ve spent on these essays. I, too, believe in quality of quantity, which is largely why I only have three published and curated essays on Medium.
In a way, this ultimatum has been a blessing in disguise, as it’s given me an incentive to engage with other writers. Something that I’ll continue to do as it’s been quite enjoyable.
I just followed you because I enjoyed your article and the writing-topics you listed, and I look forward to reading more of your stuff. And just to make it clear, I don’t expect you to follow me back unless you see value in my writing. I respect your view on this, and although I’ve made an exception to gain 35 more followers, I generally share your opinion too.
