It sure is. And it’s exactly the sort of rhetoric I was taught to stay away from growing up. “Don’t judge a book by its cover” seems to be a thing of the past. Today, it’s more like “Speed-read the title, make wild assumptions from it rooted in prejudice to fit your chosen narrative, then burn the fucking book.” I’m so sick of it.
Honestly, it feels like we’re scraping the barrel for “social issues” when we make office dress codes about race. As if white people all dress like they’re attending a funeral and black people dress in lovely, vibrant colours. It’s such bollocks. If anything, it’s a seasonal thing and about individual taste. Race has nothing to do with it.
