It’s not literal, Licia. I think it’s more a way to say that someone’s color/race holds no significance to an individual’s worth.

It’s a dishonest notion to pretend physical characteristics don’t exist. They do. I think what we should strive for is a world where we don’t racialize behavior and ascribe value based on skin color.

Maybe it’s setting the bar too high. I mean, racism permeates the world. But I think it’s a good aim to have.
