I’ve been having some doubts about publishing my latest essay due to its potential controversy. The piece is complete, yet it’s still gathering dust in my drafts section. I’m not giving it its due respect. And what’s worse, since my words are an extension of my being, I’m not giving myself the respect I deserve.

And that’s not good.

Freedom is voicing your opinions and accepting being disliked for them. Freedom is more than that, obviously, but this is a particular aspect I value and are trying to get better at as a writer.

Your piece gave me a much needed push to pick a side, my side, and bleed it onto the screen. And if it gets a few negative comments, then yay – job done.
