This seems backwards to me. White spaces, black spaces. One race kicking out the other to “preserve” their integrity. Sounds like something out of an old history book.
When I was growing up in the nineties (in a multi-ethnic/cultural environment), we mostly bonded through geographical convenience, social class, and sentiments. Ethnicity played a role too, and racism between all “groups” did exist, but were generally less important. It taught us to look beyond skin colour and see people as individuals, which has enriched my life with friends from all cultures, each of which has added to my own.
To separate or exclude solely based on race is… well, it’s racist. Surely we shouldn’t teach our kids to think like that?
